For this blog post, I read A Fable for the Living. This was a short story about a town that only sent letters to their dead loved ones through fissures in the ground that formed seasonally instead of talking about it. This loosely relates to what I'll be doing in this blog post. I will be writing to myself but my author-self, Red River.
Dear Red River, How would I describe our relationship? I would say it's like having a pet bird that you struggle to take care of but it stays with you and helps you regardless. In that I'm trying to say that my current self does not like writing which means my you are struggling. I'm sorry that I've been neglecting you for so long but I plan to change that this semester and see you flourish. The first thing I'm going to do in order to achieve this goal is to start writing more in period but there are more specific steps I'm also going to do as well. As my second step in revitalizing you I will start writing about my feelings while I'm feeling sad or happy or anything. I realized that I have a problem with expressing my feelings in healthy ways so I believe that writing about them will help with expressing them in writing and speaking them as well. My last step is to start making set times to write so that I can become more comfortable with writing itself. Aside from those set goals I just need to stop procrastinating when it comes to writing because I know that I don't have any excuse for not writing more. I look forward to seeing you thrive Red River because I know you will and I can't wait to see where it takes us. I don't really know how well these goals will work but I'm pretty sure it can't hurt so I just need to make sure I actually do them because I'm sure you know how I am with my goals and my plans to achieve them. It rarely ever works out well but this time I'm going to make precautions to that so that I don't have choice but to write more. I also wouldn't be opposed to you suddenly coming alive but that's just me being lazy and not wanting to put forth any effort just because this is something I don't enjoy doing at the moment. So just sit back and let me do this and you'll know when it's your time to start doing more. But until then I'll see ya later Red River. Sincerely, Fredric
